∞ About me
From a young age I have been interested in architecture. At about 10 years old, I had a friend whose mother was an architect who had build her own house and this impressed me so much that I knew what I wanted to be!
My educational path has been pretty unusual and no straight line to become an architect. Initially the technical side of the build environment motivated me to pursue a Bachelor in Build Environment (Bouwkunde) from the Rotterdam University of Applied Science, during which I gained 2 years of work experience on a construction site of a net-zero housing project. Followed by a Minor in Architecture and finishing this degree with a thesis project and internship in Manchester, England.
With interest in architecture from a young age, I was equally interested in experiencing a longterm stay in the United States. In part to broaden my horizons personally and professionally, as well as learn about design outside of the systems that I had grown accustomed to. Upon my return I am now very driven and excited to be part of the profession in the culture I come from and feels so familiar, but has also grown in ways separately from myself during turbulent times such as the COVID-19 pandemic and movements like BLM.
If I would describe myself I would start with the words motivated, persistent, result oriented, responsible for and critical at my own work, while also placing importance on a healthy work environment that I am more than happy to contribute to. I look to be part of a place of work where we can collaboratively work hard and be proud of our work that we enjoy doing.
